~ Corel Prison Once it was the town of Corel, but after its destruction by Shinra, it has since become a prison in the shadow of Gold Saucer. The townsfolk have since relocated to North Corel. The prison is loosely guarded, since security is not needed. The harsh desert around makes escape by land impossible. It is largely self-run by Mr. Coates and a mysterious leader. Despite being largely in ruins, the faint outline of a town can still be seen. Convicts in the Corel Prison are used in the Chocobo Races. |

~ Cosmo Canyon It is also known as the "Valley of the Fallen Star". It is a pilgrimage site for those who wish to pursue the study of Planet life, and home to an observatory from which the Planet and its surroundings can be studied. The eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE was founded in Cosmo Canyon by an unknown person at an unknown time. The members of Red XIII's Tribe are the guardians of this land. Every fifty years a male and female of the species perform a rite to appease the Planet. |

~ Mt. Corel It is a mountain that divides the area around Costa del Sol from the rest of the Western Continent. The town of North Corel is located just at the foot of the mountain. There is also an abandoned Mako Reactor here. The mountain can be traveled via long abandoned stretches of an abandoned railroad system. |

~ Northern Crater It is a massive crater that takes up much of the Northern Continent. Because the Crater is such an enormous wound to the Planet, huge amounts of Mako are brought here to heal it. This makes most of the Northern Continent a frozen desert. The cliffs that make up the Northern Crater's sides are the location, Gaea's Cliff, and on its top is the Whirlwind Maze. |
