{BATTLES}
In the world of Final Fantasy 7, battles happen a lot more than you'd think. Since this is a FF7 forum, it's only natural that battles would occur, right? That's why we decided to create a guide on how to battle, and how to not battle. It's really simple and fairly short, but hopefully you'll get what you need out of it.
{DURING BATTLE}
Alright, the most important rule during battle, is to fight. I know it sounds really simple and a little dumb, but you won't believe how many people don't do this. I've seen one person fight another person, and the other person just keeps talking and everything, acting as if there is no battle going on. They don't even write that they dodge the attack, they just ignored it. If someone swings a sword at you, or tries to put a bullet in your head, either dodge or get hit. It's your choice. There's no use in ignoring it.
Here's an example of a bad role-play battle:
Joe walked towards Bob, his sword unsheathed. Just as he got within a foot of his target, he leapt into the air and swung his sword down with all of his might.
"Nice sword." Bob said, looking emotionally at the assailant. He didn't know who it was, but he didn't care. he was a weakling anyways.
If you notice, Bob doesn't dodge the sword or anything. He ignores the enemy, talking calmly as if nothing is happening. Joe did a fairly good job, but Bob didn't. Here's what Bob should've done:
Bob heard footsteps and felt a rush of wind nearby him. Quickly, Bob spun around, noticing a form of a man coming right at him, sword raised as if to cut Bob down. Without thinking, Bob unsheathed his own sword and blocked the attack. "Nice sword." Bob said, grimacing as he pushed his blade against the attacker's.
That's a better way for Bob to role-play during battle. He not only saved his life, but he managed to block the enemy and say something while doing it. Good job, Bob. You earned yourself a cookie.
{DYING}
Since battles are usually life threatening, dying is going to happen sometime. The only choice you have is when to die and where. One thing that you cannot do is kill another person's character without their permission. It would make things bad for them. I mean, how would you feel if your character was suddenly killed by some cocky role-player? You may only kill another character when you have their permission.
Death is not the end, however. If you want your character to just die, that's fine, I guess. You can then make another role-play character using that same account, or a different one, if you wish. Another option that you have is being reborn as a demon, possibly being freed from Hell. This not only makes your character stronger, but it also adds an interesting plot development: now you have the chance to kill the person who killed you, gaining revenge. Sounds good, eh?
